Our Story
Tracy Janczak started Core Rhythm Pilates in Canandaigua in October of 2012 after she and her husband decided to move to his hometown of Canandaigua to raise their daughter Grace. Her journey from Vegas Showgirl & Radio City Rockette to fitness entrepreneur & mother took many twists and turns. But she made the substantial four-hundred-hour commitment to train with Stott Pilates to become a certified instructor and open her own studio, first near Detroit and now here in the Finger Lakes. She created a successful studio with a dedicated following. Her philosophy has always been that fitness should be fun and her mission is to empower people to lead healthier, happier lives through Pilates. She will be the first to tell you that Pilates is for every BODY. And it is that mission that got her thinking…how could she bring Pilates to those who wouldn’t otherwise have access, and empower other women entrepreneurs in the fitness industry and beyond? That is how THE MOVEMENT FLX was born. After four years of designing, saving, and persisting, her dream was becoming a reality.
Then came 2020. She had to close her studio due to the global pandemic. She reached out to fellow studio owner Kate Wheeler of Crescent Trail Pilates in Fairport to see how she was doing. After discussing the challenges of COVID they hatched the idea of The Virtual Pilates Collaborative: an online platform where their students could take classes and connect with one another while staying home and staying safe. The Collaborative is a beautiful example of women business owners joining forces to support their clients and each other. The result has been a lifeline for their clients and each other during and since last winter’s lock down.
Then it happened. THE MOVEMENT FLX arrived in all its glory. At 28 feet, this custom trailer was designed to offer Pilates but can do so much more. Partnering with Cobblestone Arts and The Canandaigua Country Club, The Movement FLX took to the road (well, their parking lots) and has been another way to stay connected and safe. The open-air mobile design allows The Movement FLX to be used for any outdoor event all while observing proper COVID safety protocols. One side opens to become a stage and it is Tracy’s dream to use it as a platform for events like the ‘Pumpkin Bump” where she raised money and awareness for The Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester at Star Cider in Canandaigua. The Mobile is currently closed due to weather but will reopen in the spring and is available for booking events in 2021 and beyond.
The great news is that The Movement FLX has gone fully virtual with in person private and semi-private sessions where COVID safety protocols are possible.
Community building is as important to Tracy as breathing is to most of us. She is a tireless supporter of Women and Girls causes. She was on the Board of ONYA – Ontario Yates Fund for Women and Girls, a member of the Professional Women of the Finger Lakes and their 2015 Entrepreneur Of The Year, and an 2018 nominee for the Canandaigua ATHENA Leadership Award. Tracy is also starting the first Finger Lakes Council for the Vital Voices Global Partnership, and is involved with FLX Women (Kristen Fragnoli) Women Rising Conference and United Way Canandaigua Women United.
